The North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) threatened in its unsigned statement on Friday to launch a preemptive strike against the US, which Pyongyang believes intends to launch a nuclear war by moving its "strategic means" to the Korean Peninsula.
The statement explains this by saying that, for the first time, "the US core air combat force has been deployed in the Korean peninsula simultaneously and B-52, a typical strategic bomber of the US air force capable of carrying nuclear weapons." The US, Japan, and South Korean joint air drills scheduled for October 22 have also been described as "nuclear war provocative moves of the US."
The document concluded by saying that after this "provocation of nuclear war" against North Korea, the country will take a corresponding option.
