The chairman of the Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Devlet Bahçeli, has declared his readiness to meet with the leader of the PKK terrorist organization, Abdullah Öcalan, in the Imrali prison, APA reports.

"I say it openly. If necessary, I will take three of my friends and go to Imrali," MHP leader said at a group meeting of his party.

Devlet Bahçeli emphasized that if the goal of a Türkiye free from terrorism is to become increasingly stronger, there is no point in hesitating to go to Imrali.

Note that some time ago, the imprisoned leader of the PKK terrorist organization, Abdullah Öcalan, called on his supporters. The written appeal issued on behalf of Öcalan included the call to “Put down your weapons!” Following the call of the PKK leader, a group of organization members disarmed in Süleymaniyye.

PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan has been held in Imralı Prison for 26 years. He was arrested in Kenya in February 1999 as a result of an operation by the National Intelligence Organization and brought to Türkiye. Although he was sentenced to death, the sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment.
