A moderate earthquake shook western Türkiye on Monday evening, sending tremors across a wide area that included the country's largest city, Istanbul, APA reports citint Türkiye Today.
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority reported the quake struck at 9:20 p.m. local time, with its epicenter in Sindirgi, a district in Balikesir province. The agency measured the earthquake at magnitude 4.9.
The tremor was felt in Balikesir and surrounding provinces, as well as in Istanbul, located hundreds of kilometers to the northwest.
