Iraqi authorities have denied reports that the country's electricity supply will be reduced due to the halt of gas imports from neighboring Iran, according to Iraqi Ministry of Electricity's press service, APA reports.
"Statements circulating on social media, attributed to Electricity Minister Ziad Ali Fadhel, about an alleged one-hour daily power cut due to interruptions in Iranian gas supplies are false and untrue," the ministry's press service said in a statement. In this regard, the Iraqi Ministry of Energy noted that "approximately 70% of the country's electricity is generated from domestic fuel."
