The Iranian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that it has received US proposals to resume talks on Iran's nuclear program through mediator, said official representative of the Iranian government, Fatima Modjirani, APA reports
In a statement carried by Iranian media on Sunday, Modjirani said: "The Iranian Foreign Ministry has received messages regarding the resumption of negotiations." He said that further information on the nature and content of the proposals would be released later.
Five rounds of indirect talks between Iran and the United States have been held since April 12, mediated by Oman. The next meeting was called off after Israel launched strikes on Iran in June. Israel said the operation was aimed at destroying Iran's nuclear program. Iran responded by launching strikes on Israel.
On June 22, the US launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities in the cities of Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz. US President Donald Trump later declared a ceasefire, which Iran and Israel agreed to.
Iranian officials have for many years stated that the country's nuclear program serves only peaceful purposes.
