A Hamas official tells Reuters that the terror group is handing over the body of one of the two remaining hostages to the Red Cross, APA reports, citing Times of Israel.
The two hostages whose bodies remain held in Gaza are police Master Sgt. Ran Gvili and Thai national Sudthisak Rinthalak.
The Prime Minister’s Office earlier said the Red Cross was set to hand over to Israel unspecified “findings” from the Gaza Strip that will be taken to the Abu Kabir forensic institute in Tel Aviv for examination.
Notably, Israel avoided referring to these findings as a body.
In previous returns of hostages’ remains, Hamas always issued an official statement announcing the handover.
