It was reported that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) had been warned months ago, said Türkiye’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, APA’s Türkiye bureau reports.
He said that the time given to the SDF has already expired and that the Syrian government is fighting to ensure the country’s territorial integrity.
According to the minister, earlier expressed concerns about the SDF’s true intentions have unfortunately been confirmed, creating a pessimistic picture in terms of peace efforts. Hakan Fidan emphasized that at the current stage, the SDF’s insistence on preserving what it holds at any cost is the biggest obstacle to Syria achieving peace and stability.
He noted that this uncompromising stance contradicts the realities of Syria and the region. The head of Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry added that the SDF must put an end to terrorism and separatism.
According to the minister, within this framework, they hope that the talks being held between Syria, the United States, and Israel will yield results that serve the interests of the region and take into account Syria’s territorial integrity, security, and intelligence capabilities; they encourage this process and are closely monitoring it. Hakan Fidan stated that if necessary, Türkiye will not refrain from direct intervention and that there are no difficulties in establishing dialogue with the parties.
