The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has met with King Abdullah II from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Brussels today, a press release by the European Commission noted, APA reports.
"Discussions focused on recent developments and the need to avoid a negative spill-over in the region, where Jordan plays a key stabilising role," the press release noted.
During the visit, the Commission also announced an EU support package for Jordan worth €902 million (€402 million in grants and €500 million in loans by the European Investment Bank).
"Jordan is a valued and strategic partner of the EU. We support Jordan’s efforts to modernise," Ursula von der Leyen noted in an X post.
Note that the King of Jordan is on a visit in Brussels. He held meeting with Secretary General of NATO and EU officials.
