India and Canada intend to increase trade in the oil and gas sector, APA reports citing Bloomberg.
According to him, Canada will commit to increasing liquefied natural gas supplies to India in exchange for increased petroleum product supplies. Furthermore, the countries will announce agreements to expand energy investment and collaborate in various energy sectors. An official announcement is expected following a meeting of the two countries' energy ministers on the sidelines of India Energy Week 2026 in Goa on Tuesday.
As Bloomberg notes, this move reflects Ottawa's desire to diversify its exports amid rising trade tensions with the United States. The Canadian government is also seeking more pragmatic relations with major Asian partners.
