Azerbaijan and Thailand to hold political consultations

On November 28, 2025, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received Issara Sereewatthanawut, Secretary-General of the King Prajadhipok Institute under the Parliament of Thailand, MFA told APA.

The meeting discussed the expansion of friendly and cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and Thailand, including parliamentary diplomacy, relations between think tanks and regional issues.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, drawing attention to the active role of the Republic of Azerbaijan in international platforms, informed about the chairmanship of Azerbaijan in the Non-Aligned Movement, COP29 and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and the contribution of the initiatives put forward to global cooperation. He informed about the World Urban Forum (WUF13), the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and the CICA summits to be held in Azerbaijan next year, and stated that these events will add additional value to the regional and international dialogue.

The meeting also discussed the contacts of the Royal Institute with Azerbaijani think tanks and the prospects for cooperation within this framework, as well as the organization of upcoming consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.

The parties noted the importance of expanding mutual parliamentary cooperation within the framework of the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network and Youth Organization, as well as the observer status of the Azerbaijani Parliament in the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

At the same time, the issues of scholarship programs implemented by Azerbaijan, educational exchange opportunities, cooperation in the field of tourism and organisation of mutual high-level visits were in the focus of the meeting.

The meeting also reviewed other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
