Türkiye is firmly opposed to any foreign intervention in Iran, said Ömer Çelik, spokesperson for the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), APA’s Türkiye bureau reports.
Ömer Çelik noted that foreign interventions directed against Iran raise serious concerns and that Türkiye is categorically against them.
He emphasized that throughout history, such interventions have ended in failure.
“We are following the situation in Iran with great concern. We are firmly opposed to any foreign intervention in Iran. This would be extremely wrong. Both direct foreign intervention and attempts at a coup through foreign involvement would have very serious and problematic consequences for Iran. The will of the Iranian people must be respected here. This has been tested many times before. Every foreign intervention leads to extremely grave consequences. Targeting state leaders, as in the case of Venezuela, or attempting to change regimes by force of arms—as is frequently discussed in the news regarding Iran—has never been a solution anywhere in the world. On the contrary, such steps bring even greater problems and crises,” Ömer Çelik said.
