Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that 20 vessels were authorized to transit the strategic Strait of Hormuz after coordinating with the force and relevant Iranian maritime authorities, WANA News Agency reports.
According to the statement, the transits were carried out within established maritime procedures and under the supervision of the responsible authorities overseeing navigation in Iranian waters.
Officials from the IRGC Navy said the concept of an “Iranian order” in the waterway has been combined with what they described as “Iranian civilization,” emphasizing that requests submitted by the vessels were reviewed based on the nature of their cargoes and the needs of their destination countries.
The statement noted that several of the vessels had already completed their passage through the strait, while the remaining ships were expected to transit during the early hours of the following day.
The IRGC Navy added that, taking into account humanitarian considerations and the destination countries’ need for cargoes such as chemical fertilizers, it approved the transit requests and provided the necessary conditions to ensure the vessels’ safe passage.
The development comes as the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most strategically important maritime chokepoints, serving as a critical route for global trade and energy shipments.
