Baku-APA. The United States is calling on North Korea to restrain from further ballistic missile tests that destabilize the Asia Pacific region, White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters on Tuesday, APA reports citing Sputnik.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Pentagon confirmed that it detected a failed intermediate range ballistic missile launch by Pyongyang.
"The United States and the rest of the international community calls on North Korea to refrain from actions, including this failed missile test, that further raise tensions in the region," Earnest said.
Tensions over North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile programs escalated after Pyongyang said on January 6 that it had successfully carried out a hydrogen bomb test and put a satellite into orbit on February 7, violating UN Security Council resolutions and triggering condemnation from the international community in both cases.
