Baku-APA. Two officers were wounded on Wednesday in a police-involved shooting in Fremont, a city south of San Francisco, Northern California, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Local radio and TV reports said police were investigating the incident in Fremont's Irvington area, and a Safeway grocery store was on lockdown and neighboring streets were barricaded.

It began during a traffic stop in the afternoon, where a suspect backed into a officer with a car and then fled on foot, police said. One or possibly two suspects were on the loose.

In a posting on social network Twitter, Fremont Police Department said two officers with injuries were transported to trauma centers.

While shots were fired, apparently by officers, it was unclear what kind of injuries were sustained by the officers at two different locations and how serious were their conditions.
