Baku-APA. House Speaker Paul Ryan will announce Tuesday he’s ruling out any bid for the Republican presidential nomination this year, two party leadership aides said, APA reports quoting Bloomberg.

Ryan of Wisconsin, the 2012 Republican vice presidential candidate, has repeatedly said he wasn’t interested in a candidacy amid turmoil in the party intensified by the rise of outside contender Donald Trump. The speaker is scheduled to make a statement later Tuesday at the Republican National Committee office in Washington.

One Republican aide said Ryan planned to put to rest any idea that he would seek or accept the nomination at July’s party convention in Cleveland.

In previous statements, Ryan has said that his job as speaker deserved his undivided attention and that he would rather focus on spelling out an agenda for Republican congressional candidates in the fall election. The party holds majorities in the House and Senate.

Even so, a number of top Republicans have suggested that Ryan would be a more palatable alternative for voters than Trump or Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who has been a divisive force in the Senate and has drawn minimal support from fellow members of Congress. Some in the party have raised the prospect that Ryan could emerge as the default nominee if Trump or anyone else doesn’t collect the required 1,237 delegates needed to win the nomination outright.

Ryan’s own activities have helped to encourage some of that speculation. Last week he traveled to Israel and elsewhere in the Middle East, and his staff released a campaign-style video of a speech by the speaker promoting political civility and ideas.
