Baku. Malahat Najafov, APA. Five schoolchildren of Jewish origin from the US visited Baku at the initiative of the Jewish School of Atlanta.

Community leader George Birboum said that at a time of violence in the world, Azerbaijan is the area of stability: "We tried to choose the region in which there were no negative trends. Azerbaijan is able to maintain stability. Azerbaijan is a country with universal values. And children are the most successful ambassadors. To this end, we decided to show Azerbaijan to them. "

He also noted that the visit coincided with the deterioration of the situation in Nagorno Karabakh: "It may seem that tense situation in whole Azerbaijan. But we come and see that the conflict is only in a small part of the country. In general, it is stable and tolerant country. We visited the memorial complex to the victims of genocide in Guba, saw the bones of dead men. The Jews at the time survived the Holocaust, and are very sensitive to this issue. We were very touched by what we saw. I think that the world should support Azerbaijan in this issue. I will inform the community on my return. "

The students began their journey in Baku. They became participants of the meeting in the Jewish community, visited the community school, and Gobustan. 16-year-old student of the Jewish Academy of Atlanta admitted that did not have much idea about Azerbaijan: "I thought Azerbaijan was similar to Iran or Russia, but here I see something mixed. I admired the architectural appearance and liveliness of Baku. Most I liked the “Icheri Sheher”(Old City), and shops there. I think there is such souvenirs nowhere in the world . Memorial Complex in Guba, which we have visited, impressed me. "

One of the guests Mayan Shoien said that Baku is one of the most beautiful and clean cities in the world and the city is home to very warm and hospitable people: "Here all people are very warmly, telling in detail about the country, its culture. You feel walking over the history when you walk on the stones through “Icheri Shahar”. People are wearing simple but and at the same time very stylish that has drawn my attention. Here I have got a lot of friends. "
