US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet in New York today, according to the US secretary of state’s schedule, APA reports.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. local time on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. A press photo opportunity is planned at the beginning of the meeting.
Rubio earlier said that the war in Ukraine would be discussed during his meeting with Lavrov.
The settlement of the conflict in Ukraine is expected to be one of the main topics. The sides are also expected to discuss Russia-US relations and other issues within the UN framework.
