The defense and space ministries of Canada and France intend to jointly develop and utilize infrastructure, announced on Sunday by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, APA reports.
"Today, following our consultations, we are strengthening cooperation in key areas. We have instructed our space and defense ministries to develop and jointly utilize shared infrastructure, including launch systems and receiving complexes," Carney said during a joint appearance with French President Emmanuel Macron in the French-controlled island group of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. Macron had previously visited the Atlantic Ocean archipelago off the coast of Canada.
Carney did not specify which objects he was referring to. "Today, sovereignty is more than self-sufficient in food, fuel, and defense," he added. "It requires access to artificial intelligence, space, semiconductors, essential minerals, and clean energy."
