Baku-APA. Algerian army troops on Sunday night killed two militants in the province of Jijel, 320 km east of Algiers, the Defense Ministry said in a statement on Monday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
This operation was an outcome of an ambush set by the army troops in the locality of Mechtet Oulad Amrane, the source said.
According to the statement, two Kalashnikov rifles, a pair of binoculars, three grenades, cell phones and other items were seized in the operation.
Despite significant improvement in the security situation compared to the 90s, ambushes and clashes between army troops and terrorist groups in Algeria are reported time to time.
