"It is a fact of proceedings but not a case against National Bank governor Gontareva. No charges have been brought against her. A pre-trial investigation is underway," Alena Yakhno, a spokesperson for the Kiev prosecutor’s office, said on her Facebook account.
However she confirmed that the prosecutor’s office was investigating two criminal cases against National Bank officials on office abuse and negligence charges. "But they in no way are linked with the current dollar rate. The first case is based on a complaint from an individual, whereas the other one - on the ruling of the Pechersky court of December 2014," she noted.
