Baku-APAAlgeria has reiterated that " inclusive political dialogue" is as an essential approach to resolving the crisis in Syria, while opposing any armed intervention against a sovereign country outside international law norms, local media reported Saturday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"Algeria calls, now more than ever, on the international community to boost and support the Syrian parties to engage in a political process to end the crisis for the interest of peace, stability, cohesion and progress of the brotherly Syrian people," a statement of the Algerian Foreign Ministry said.

"As it did before, Algeria rejects any military intervention against a sovereign nation outside the norms of the international law," read the statement.

However, as being among the frontline states that drew up and adopted the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in 1997, Algeria believes that "the illegality of the use of this weapon of mass destruction is a limit that no state can trespass."

"Algeria once more reiterates its stance against the use of chemical weapons, and strongly condemns using them in Syria, where innocent civilians have lost their lives. The use of such weapons is illegal and immoral," said another statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on the occasion of an Arab League (AL) meeting held in Cairo on Aug. 27.

Speaking during the meeting of the pan-Arab body, representative of Algeria, Nadir Larbaoui, called on all parties to take into consideration the sensitive nature of the situation in Syria and wait for the outcome of the work of the UN investigation team sent to Syria.

The Syrian opposition and some Western states accused the Syrian government troops of using chemical weapons near Damascus earlier this month. But the administration has rubbished the claims as baseless.
