43 Tunisians detained in Syria to be released soon

Baku-APA. Syria's government will soon announce the release of 43 Tunisians detained in the country, Radio Mosaique FM reported Thursday, APA reports.

Massoud Romdhani, a member of a Tunisian civil society delegation which has been in Syria for the past week, said that the detainees will be released on condition that Tunisian authorities show their willingness to repatriate them.

The delegation met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad last week.

A few days ago, Syria's government gave the green light to the liberation of Tunisian detainees on the sole condition that they did not take part in the killing of Syrian citizens, Mosaique FM said.

During a press conference held on Wednesday, members of Syrian civil society NGOs said that they were planning to get in touch with the Tunisian government to coordinate the repatriation of the detainees.
