Baku-APA.  One Egyptian recruit died of wounds on Friday, which he suffered during previous day's bomb explosion targeting the interior minister, Egypt's health ministry said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The recruit, Sayed Badel Aazem, died due to laceration in the head, the ministry said in a statement.

The attack, which failed to hurt Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim, left 24 others injured, including 10 policemen, according to the statement.

"It is likely that it was a suicide explosion as a result of a high explosive device," interior ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

The blast occurred near the minister's convoy in Nasr City in eastern Cairo when he was on his way from home to the interior ministry headquarters on Thursday morning.

After the attack, Ibrahim said in state television that the bombing was a "cowardly assassination" bid, adding that "the attack is a beginning of a wave of terrorism."

No organizations so far claimed responsibility for the attack, the first of its kind during the transitional period in Egypt.

Some Islamic groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood from which the ousted president Mohamed Morsi hails, have condemned the attack.
