Azerbaijanâ€™s Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry comments on forecasts about millenniumâ€™s most severe winter in the last millennium

The reason for this was the fading of the warm Atlantic Gulf Stream, which has ceased to convey heat to the European countries. This prognosis is sensation. This information cannot be trusty. Because, there is not a long lasting model of hydrometeorological prognosis in Polandâ€, Deputy director of the National Hydrometeorology Department of Azerbaijanâ€™s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Sahib Khalilov told APA. To him, such long-term prognosis must be based on hydrodynamic model. And such prognoses are composed only in Great Britain, France, Germany, US, Japan and Russia.

Khalilov said that reliable source â€“ Russian Hydrometeorology Centerâ€™s website www.meteoinfo.ru predicted that in comparison with last year, this year the weather would be milder within October, April months in Russia, as well as in the territories near country borders: â€œA part of Azerbaijan is also in this territory. Even Baku has been included into this area. According to these prognoses, in comparison with the last year, this year winter will be milder. But it may be cold in some places. Russian Hydrometeorology Centerâ€™s website says that within last 15 years, such prognoses proved worth by 58-81 percent.

Khalilov noted that overall result on long-term forecasts might be done only on the basis of information of related centers of above mentioned countries. Southeastern Europe and Caucasus Climate Outlook Forum will take place in this regard in the middle of October. Only after this forum it will be possible to say anything about winter weather.
