Short-term floods and torrents occur in autumn in some mountainous rivers, as well as in the rivers of south slopes of the Greater Caucasus – Demiraparanchay, Girdimanchay, Goychay, Turyanchay; Kishchay, Shinchay, Balakenchay, Talachay in Balaken-Sheki area; Lankaranchay, Vileshchay in Lankaran-Astara area: “It is not improbable that this year short-term floods and torrents will occur in the mentioned rivers againâ€.
As to Kura river, Verdiyev noted that floods may occur in the branch of south slope of the Greater Caucasus of Kura river. But it will not impact on Kura river so seriously: “Generally, the highest water in Kura river was observed in April-May-June months. High water, sharp rise of level and flood was recorded during this time. But current high water in Kura river is below in comparison with spring time. And it does not let floods occur again in autumn.
