ERASMUS MUNDUS project presented in Tbilisi

Tbilisi. Nizami Mammadzadeh – APA. The project ERASMUS MUNDUS – Action 2: Partnership for Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan has been presented in Tbilisi on the initiative of Tbilisi State University, APA’s Georgia bureau reports. Rector of Tbilisi State University Alexander Kvitashvili, Head of the European Union Delegation to Georgia Per Eklund, head of foreign relations department of Tbilisi State University Tea Kerkedava, program coordinator of ERASMUS MUNDUS Lika Glonti and others addressed the event.

Representatives of the diplomatic corps and senior officials attended the event. Members of the consortium – representatives of 12 universities from the South Caucasus and 7 European universities attended the event. The representatives of three universities from Georgia – Tbilisi State University, Batumi State University, Telavi Iakob Gogebashvili State University, from Azerbaijan – Azerbaijan Tourism Institute, Ganja State Niversity and Khazar University participated in the ERASMUS MUNDUS program.

Rector of Tbilisi State University Alexander Kvitashvili told APA that ERASMUS MUNDUS is a program aiming to improve cooperation in the area of higher education. Three countries of the South Caucasus and a number of European countries are participating in the program. The program has been functioning since 2007, this is the second stage.

Chief of international relations department of Azerbaijan Tourism University, higher education expert and program manager of the European Union’s Tempus office from Azerbaijan Nigar Abbaszadeh told APA that 33 students would be sent abroad from Azerbaijan every year.
“Within the framework of this project we received three students and three teachers from Portugal, France and Italy. But according to the structure of the project, more students from the South Caucasus are sent to study abroad through the European Union. According to this program, 195 students have graduated from Azerbaijan Tourism Institute, they are working in the job market,” she said.
