Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. The UN Department of Public Information (UN DPI) in Azerbaijan and IRELI Public Union have today held an event Stand Up - Take Action for the Millennium Development Goals, APA reports.
The action started outside the UN office in Azerbaijan. More than 150 students from various higher schools attended the action. A meeting was held with the participants at the UN office in Baku. The participants called on everybody to stand against poverty.
At the end of the action the young people disseminated informational leaflets in different places of Baku.
Stand up campaign was launched in October, 2002. The goal of the campaign is to offer global support for Millennium Development Goals. On October 15-16, 2006, 23, 542, 614 people broke the stand up record in the campaign held in more than 80 countries of the world.
