Mahmud Karimov: A special fund should be established in Azerbaijan for keeping archeological findings, cultural and historical monuments

According to him, there are some problems concerning keeping of archeological findings, cultural and historical monuments.
â€œThere should be special funds for keeping archeological findings. These funds should be supplied with necessary equipment. Activities are being carried out in this respect, I am sure that they will produce good results. We have small funds, but we would like to have a big archeological fund to keep all findings there. I hope it will be possible in future,â€ he said.

Mahmud Karimov said necessary proposals had been prepared to solve the problem, they would be submitted to the appropriate bodies soon.
â€œActually, the main problem in establishing this fund is connected with the area, there should be a large building, strong equipment. It requires a large sum. The Institute of Archeology has several funds and for now findings are held there,â€ he said.

President of the academy added that new methods had been launched for conserving monuments.
â€œSome of Agsu monuments are being conserved with this method. This is very important. Foreign experts are involved to study the monuments better, they participate in the excavations together with the Azerbaijani archeologists. Experts from Japan, Korea, Germany, Spain, US participate in the studies together with our experts. It is important that foreign experts are also studying Azerbaijanâ€™s history and culture,â€ he said.
