Six young people put forward an initiative to establish this public union and they spoke about the actuality of the forum. Following the founders’ address, Azerbaijan was elected a chairman of the assembly and stage-by-stage election of the secretariat and account commission was held. Then candidates for the elective institutions of the organization were nominated. Three were elected for the Public Union’s Control and Inspection Commission, 17 – for the Board and 21 – for Mejlis, the assembly. According to the charter of the organization, alumni were elected as Board members and students of the foreign universities – as members of Mejlis.
Orkhan Akbarov was elected as ASAIF chairman. He graduated programs of Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts abroad and is working for the UNDP Office in Azerbaijan now. He has 10-year experience of working with Diaspora in the world.
Akbarov shared his views on the ASAIF goals, targets, mission and ways to achieve its goals. The conference was ended after the discussion of current issues.
