Azerbaijan grants asylum to 2, 600 refugees came from third countries

Baku -APA. Azerbaijan has granted asylum to 2, 600 refugees came from the third countries, Head of State Committee on Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons Ali Hasanov said, APA reports. He noted that if the number of refugees came from the third countries was 10 000 persons 10 years ago, today this number fell to 2,600. These are refugees from Chechnya, Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan. This number fell because, most part of Chechen refugees leaves Azerbaijan for Turkey and Europe. Hasanov noted that the only problem connected with Chechen refugees in Azerbaijan was connected with the specification of their identities; “Because they have come to Azerbaijan illegally. We have appealed to Russia for help in determination of their identities many timesâ€.
