Hunting season opens in Azerbaijan

Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva – APA. The hunting season for 2010-2011 is open in Azerbaijan from June 5, spokesperson for the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Irada Ibrahimova told APA. Concrete dates have been determined for hunting wild animals. It is permitted to hunt he-goat on June 5 - October 23, boar on September 13 – December 25, hare on December 11, 2010 – February 5, 2011, nutria on October 16, 2010 – February 26, 2011. Jackal and raccoon can be hunted throughout the year for regulation of their numbers. The permission for hunting is to be obtained from Baku Ecology and Natural Resources Department and territorial Ecology and Natural Resources offices.

One-off hunting permission costs AZN 2.90 for hare, AZN 3.96 for jackal, AZN 1.65 for raccoon and nutria, AZN 24.75 for he-goat, AZN 16.50 for boar. The Ministry has banned hunting in Aghdam, Khanlar, Goranboy, Dashkesen, Gedebey and Terter regions, islands of the Caspian Sea, green zones, specially protected areas, territories by 1km around the cities and resorts.
