Fall is observed in the volume of the water flowing into the Azerbaijan-part of the Kur. According to Giragkasaman point of the Kur River, the water level has been falling since May 27. The water level reduced by 56cm in Giragkasaman point of the Kur River from May 27 till June 8. The water flow is 505 cu m there, this makes up 84 percent of the norm,” acting director of the Hydrometeorological Forecasts Bureau of the National Hydrometeorological Department of Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry Umayra Tagiyeva told APA. She said the water level of the rivers flowing into the Kur is also reducing. The water level has fallen by 40cm in Eyrichay point of Ganikh, water flow makes up 86 percent.
“Despite this, the water level is still high in the lower course of the Kur River. It will continue,” she said.

As regards the situation expected in the Kur River, Umayra Tagiyeva said the water level is high in Azerbaijani rivers in April, May and June. So, it would be early to say now when the situation will become normal.
“As it will rain by June 10, the water level will rise in the Kur, Araz, Ganikh rivers. Some mountain rivers will flood. But it will not be a serious process,” she said.

The ministry’s official says that water level is high in the rivers of the Great Caucasus, especially in the mountain rivers of Guba, Gusar. This is caused by the melting of the snow on the mountains.
“Of course, some of the mountain rivers influence the Kur. The rivers of Guba directly flow into the sea,” he said.
