Second part of swine flu vaccines brought to Azerbaijan

The second part of the vaccines against A/H1N1 (swine flu) sent by the World Health Organization (WHO) to Azerbaijan have already been brought to the country, specialist for infectious diseases of the WHO office in Azerbaijan Vusala Allahverdiyeva told APA. After that, it will be possible to say the exact amount of the vaccines. Allahverdiyeva said it was planned to send 172,000 doses of vaccines to Azerbaijan. The first part of the vaccines – 90,000 doses were brought to the country on January 8, the second part yesterday.

The WHO representative said the vaccination had already begun in Azerbaijan. This stage will last for 3-4 weeks. As a result of this stage, the doses of the vaccines to be brought to Azerbaijan in the next stage will be determined. It is planned to send 882,000 doses of vaccines to Azerbaijan in five stages. It covers ten percent of the country’s population.

The vaccines sent to Azerbaijan were produced by GlaxoSmithKline company of Belgium in Canada.
