Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. “The safety indicators of the vaccines against A/H1N1 (swine flu) are similar to the other vaccines. Though the vaccine may have accidental side effects, the majority of them are mild and temporary,” press service of Health Ministry told APA. The distribution of the vaccines against H1N1 produced by GlaxoSmithKline company began yesterday. In the first stage, the persons falling under the risk groups will be vaccinated voluntarily. The UN Secretary General and Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) called on the international community to demonstrate solidarity in order to ensure unbiased distribution of the vaccines. A number of developed countries donated vaccines (destined for their population) to the WHO reserve fund. The vaccine producers also supplied the reserve fund wit the vaccines. Eight countries in Europe wanted to obtain the vaccines from the WHO reserve fund. WHO has calculated that it will make up 200 million doses of pandemic vaccines. It is expected to cover about 10 percent of these countries’ population. Azerbaijan was one of the first countries to express its interest. Azerbaijani government worked out a plan of the application of vaccines and signed a Letter Agreement with WHO.

The government regards health servants, security agency employees and the citizens falling under a number of risk groups as the first group to receive the vaccines. It aims to ensure their ability to offer medical service. The government also plans to vaccinate persons with chronic diseases and pregnant women first of all.
WHO is coordinating the distribution of the vaccines donated by a number of countries and vaccine producers.
