One of the first living witnesses of the Khojaly genocide, Leonid Kravets, a Ukrainian pilot who first reported the genocide to official Baku and two days later took Chingiz Mustafayev and servicemen to the territory of the genocide, passed away, Chairman of the United Diaspora of Azerbaijanis in Ukraine Hikmet Javadov shared on his Facebook page, APA reports.
"An hour ago I received very sad and mournful news. After a long illness, our dear friend Leonid Kravets left us for another world. The heroic pilot Leonid Kravets has exceptional merits in video recordings of the horrors of the Khojaly massacre, the evacuation of the Azerbaijani survivors of this massacre, and bringing the truth about the Karabakh conflict to the world. For this, we will always be grateful to him. Rest in peace to the HERO who saved the lives of thousands of people," wrote Hikmet Javadov.
