"The accident services at the airport in Aktau were ready to receive the aircraft. After the crew entered the boundaries of our country, they made contact with the dispatcher of the city's Dispatcher Tower. Following that, all necessary measures were taken to ensure the aircraft's landing," Kazakhstan's Minister of Transport, Marat Karabayev, told journalists, APA reports.
He added that to ensure visual contact between the flight crew and the ground, the runway warning lights were activated: "The crew attempted to enter the runway twice. In each case, chaotic altitude changes were observed with the aircraft. Afterward, the aircraft was directed toward the coastline. At 11:28 local time, communication with the crew was lost, and the aircraft crashed to the ground. The first to arrive at the scene were the rescuers from Aktau airport, who immediately began evacuation efforts."
According to M. Karabayev, the Ministry's Department of Investigation of Incidents and Events in Transport has special commissions currently conducting investigations into the incident.
