The Embraer 190AR aircraft belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines had 69 people on board, including the crew members, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations told APA.
The Ministry noted that at approximately 11:00 local time, the Central Dispatcher Office received information that the aircraft had declared an emergency and requested permission to land at Aktau Airport.
Immediately, the Emergency Situations Department of Mangystau region deployed personnel and technical equipment to the area.
Subsequently, around 11:30, information was received that the aircraft had crashed 3 kilometers from the airport and that a fire had broken out at the site.
To ensure prompt communication regarding the plane crash, an Operational Headquarters was established, consisting of senior officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Guard, and other relevant authorities.
A total of 82 specialized vehicles and 701 personnel from the Civil Defense Forces, along with a special aircraft from Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations and a medical aviation team, were involved in the efforts to address the consequences of the crash.
As a result of these efforts, the fire was localized at 11:45 and completely extinguished at 12:05.
At 14:10 local time, 29 people, including 2 minors, were transported to relevant medical facilities.
