As reported, on April 3, 2022, at around 03:00, an explosion occurred in a nightclub located on Tarlan Aliyarbayov Street, Sabail district, Baku, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office told APA.
According to Prosecutor General's Office, Criminal proceedings were instituted against the Prosecutor General under Articles 225.2 (violation of fire safety rules - negligently causing the death of the victim or other serious consequences) and 314.2 (negligence - causing the death of the victim or other serious consequences) of the Criminal Code. According to the relevant decision, a joint investigation group consisting of investigators from the Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Emergency Situations was established, and the investigation was entrusted to the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
It was determined that the accident was caused by a leak from a gas cylinder installed in the building due to the lack of gas supply.
The death toll from the blast is currently one (nightclub employee Maya Akhundova, born in 1979). Thirty-seven people were injured, four of them in critical condition. 14 cars, 1 apartment, and 2 non-residential facilities were also damaged.
Necessary investigative actions are underway with the appointment of relevant experts in the criminal case.
