Baku. Ramil Mammadli-APA. The hearing on the case of former officer of Azerbaijani Army Kamran Asadov and 19 others continued in the Military Court of Grave Crimes. APA reports that judge Islam Neymanov presided over the process.
Kamran Asadov spoke about his talk with other defendant Kamran Babayev in the house rented in Elektrotok settlement of Baku. Asadov said Babayev’s statement that he incited Asadov to steal weapons was not true. If he had stolen weapons from the military unit with incitement of Babayev, he would have met him afterwards. Asadov said 6 men helped him to steal weapons, the other 14 had no links to the case.
“If I had known that they would be arrested because of me, I would not have greeted them or borrowed $300 from Edgar Aliyev. As regards Hajibala Huseynov, the inspector said he was arrested with weapons and told me to say that I benefited from Huseynov’s thoughts,” he said.
Kamran Asadov objected to the process.
“My words are misunderstood. I have never said I was member of Al-Qaeda. I said I supported Bin Laden as a Muslim, but I am not the member of his organization,” he said.
The court decided to call the salesman of the shop, where Babayev bought Winchester Rifle, and Yasamal district police officers, who registered the rifle, as additional witnesses. Taxi driver Kamran Farzaliyev and chief of workshop of Azerneftyag plant, where defendant Ramin Karimov had worked, gave testimonies.
Kamran Asadov asked the court to release them.
“Release us so that we can struggle for the sake of Allah. Let us release Karabakh from occupation, but struggle under the flag of Islam. For me motherland begins from Baku. I do not differentiate among French, Russians or other nations. I am a Muslims and regard those who serve Islam as my nation. I am struggling for the caliphate. I am not afraid of the punishment or your jail,” he said.
The hearing will continue on March 5.
