Police chief: â€œIllegal rally of Nardaran residents will be preventedâ€

He said the residents insisted on holding the rally.â€œWe appealed to the 14th police department and got permission to rally in Imam Huseyn square on February 26 on the 17th anniversary of Khojaly genocide and martyrdom of Imam Rza. But if our imprisoned countrymen are not released by February 26, we demand their release, too,â€ he said.

Chief of the 14th police department of Sabunchu district police office Zaur Bedelov told APA that illegal rally of Nardaran residents will be prevented.
â€œA group of Nardaran residents asked permission to hold a rally demanding release of their imprisoned countrymen in Imam Huseyn square on February 26. They were not allowed to hold rally with this demand. Later, the residents appealed to the police and said they wanted to hold rally to commemorate Khojaly victims. We gave our permission. But if they attempt to hold rally for another purpose, the police will prevent it,â€ he said.

Nardaran resident Hikmat Valiyev and Ali Huseynov were arrested in January. They are accused of threatening to kill chairman of Citizen Solidarity Party, Mp Sabir Rustamkhanli. Criminal case has been launched on the fact on Article 134 (threatening to kill or inflict serious bodily harm) of the Criminal Code, investigation is underway.
