Testimonies of relatives of radical religious group announced in trial

Baku. Ramil Mammadli-APA. The hearing on the case of former officer of Azerbaijani Army Kamran Asadov and 19 others continued in the Military Court of Grave Crimes. APA reports that judge Islam Neymanov presided over the process.
Defendant Yashar Maharramov petitioned for bringing the record of his telephone talks with Ramin Aliyev aka Abdul Aziz. The prosecutor regarded the petition as groundless. The petition was rejected. Defendant Hajibala Huseynov wanted the court to clarify the point that there was a weapon on him when he was arrested. Kamran Asadov spoke about his phone talk with Ilkin Ismayilov. He said he did not incite to jihad. Asadov criticized the inspector, who carried out the preliminary investigation.
Inspector of the Department to Combat Organized Crimes Muzaffar Mammadov gave testimony. He confirmed that Makarov pistol had been found on Hajibala Huseynov.
Following this, the testimonies given by defendant Elshan Mammadovâ€™s mother Nazima Mammadova, Samir Mehraliyevâ€™s mother Farida Mehraliyeva, mother of Shahriyar and Yashar Maharramovs Rahima Maharramova, Kamran Babayevâ€™s wife Leyla Garayeva, Rovshan Abdulaliyevâ€™s brother Elshan Abdulaliyev, Terlan and Ramil Karimovsâ€™ father Ramiz Karimov were announced.
Kamran Asadov said some were not guilty in this.
â€œPunish me instead of Elshan Mammadov. He fell under my influence. I threatened Elshan to do what I said, otherwise I told him that I would kill him,â€ he said.
The court passed a decision to call additional witnesses to the hearing.
The hearing will continue on February 25.
Kamran Asadov, Bakhtiyar Orujov, Farid Jabbarov, Elshan Mammadov, Kamran Babayev, Samir Mehbaliyev, Terlan Karimov, Edgar Aliyev, Ramil Karimov, Shirvani Babayev, Samir Aliyev, Yalchin Maharramov, Orkhan Alizadeh, Hajibala Huseynov, Azer Ibadov, Shahriyar Maharramov, Ramin Jalilov, Rovshan Abdulaliyev, Ilkin Ismayilov and Vugar Aliyev are accused of setting up a radical religious group, attempting to start military struggle, attacking on LUKoil petrol station in Baku, preparing terror attack on the U.S. and UK embassies in Azerbaijan.
