Chiefs of 5 jails dismissed in Azerbaijan

Baku â€“ APA. Justice Ministryâ€™s Penitentiary Service held a meeting on the outcomes of 2008.
Public Affairs Department of the Penitentiary Service told APA that leadership of the penitentiary service and chiefs of the subordinate bodies attended the meeting. Making a keynote speech at the meeting Deputy Justice Minister, chief of the Penitentiary Service Nazim Alakbarov spoke about the activity of the service. Deputy Minister said improvements had been made in ensuring legality in the penitentiary system, strengthening discipline, control over the subordinate bodies and eliminating shortcomings.
Concrete instructions were made at the meeting to eliminate the shortcomings in some penitentiary facilities. Chiefs of jails #3, 6, 11 and 14 of the Penitentiary Service were dismissed for the shortcomings in their work. Chief of jail #15 Yusif Allahverdiyev and department chief of the jail Tofig Aslanov were dismissed from their posts and justice agencies.
Moreover, heads of a number of facilities underwent disciplinary punishment.
