Former chief of Gobustan jail gives testimony in trial of radical religious group

Baku. Ramil Mammadli-APA. The hearing on the case of former officer of Azerbaijani Army Kamran Asadov and 19 others continued in the Military Court of Grave Crimes. APA reports that judge Islam Neymanov presided over the process. Alizadeh Huseynov, who was chief of Gobustan jail of Justice Ministryâ€™s Penitentiary Service in 2007, gave testimony. He said that he had no information about the details of the meeting of prisoner Anar Nurlu and defendant Kamran Asadov. He knew about it from the investigation materials. Huseynov said about 80 mobile phones were found on the prisoners when he was chief of the jail.
Following this, prisoner of Gobustan jail Anar Nurlu gave testimony. He confirmed that he met with Kamran Asadov, who brought food for Ilkin Ismayilov. He said he did not know those who came to the jail at that time. Nurlu said Kamran Asadov did not leave a message for delivering to Ilkin Ismayilov. Nurlu said they did not talk about illegal actions and confirmed the testimony he had given during the preliminary investigation.
Ilkin Ismayilov objected to the indictment and said the accusations brought against him had not been proved.
Giving testimony doctor of hospital #1 in Sumgayit Emin Mustafayev spoke about his relations with defendant Hajibala Huseynov and his views about Islam.
The hearing will continue in the second of the day.
Kamran Asadov, Bakhtiyar Orujov, Farid Jabbarov, Elshan Mammadov, Kamran Babayev, Samir Mehbaliyev, Terlan Karimov, Edgar Aliyev, Ramil Karimov, Shirvani Babayev, Samir Aliyev, Yalchin Maharramov, Orkhan Alizadeh, Hajibala Huseynov, Azer Ibadov, Shahriyar Maharramov, Ramin Jalilov, Rovshan Abdulaliyev, Ilkin Ismayilov and Vugar Aliyev are accused of setting up a radical religious group, attempting to start military struggle, attacking on LUKoil petrol station in Baku, preparing terror attack on the U.S. and UK embassies in Azerbaijan.
