Trial of servicemen accused of bullying to continue, February 11
APA reports that public prosecutor Togrul Huseynov read the indictment. According to the indictment, the soldiers faced charges under Article 332.2 (infringement of authorized rules of mutual relation between military men at absence between them of subordination relations, connected with humiliation of honor and advantage of victim or with application of violence against him) and 332.2.3 (the same act committed by group of persons, on preliminary arrangement by group of persons or by organized group) of the Criminal Code. On February 21, 2008, they acted contradicting the regulations and ordered the soldiers treated in Defense Ministry’s hospital in Elet to beat each other. The defendants had planned the act earlier.
Defendants gave testimonies in the hearing. They said they had done it for fun. The defendants also said their actions were not biased and they repented. The former soldiers admitted their guilt.
Sufferers Ali Jafarov and Mahmud Mammadov spoke about the details of the incident. They said they had undergone pressure and insult by the defendants.
Head of the hospital’s department Ogtay Babayev gave testimony on another crime committed in connection with Ganiyev. Babayev said he had several times illegally allowed Ganiyev to go home. Head of the department said criminal case had been launched about him on Article 341 of the Criminal Code.
The process will continue on February 11.
Two of the defendants – Rahid Jafarov and Elkhan Almammadov were arrested during the preliminary hearing in the court room.
The video showing bullying was released on the Internet, after that criminal case was launched on the fact.
