On Monday, the Court of Grave Crimes continued the trial on the case of former police officer Mushfig Muradov and Azerbaijan International University pro-rector Mahir Abdullayev’s former secretary Banovsha Hajiyeva. They are accused in the false student admission and swindle. The court presided by Judge Eynulla Valiyev heard the witness testimonies on Monday. Witness Zarifa Gojayeva said Muradov received 46 thousand dollars from her promising to admit his son to the Interior Ministry’s Police Academy. Later she understood that she was deceived and demanded her money back. Muradov did not return the money.
The process will be continued on February 4.
The accused persons are charged with Article 178.3.1 (swindle by organized group) of the Criminal Code. They are accused in illegal admission of the students to the Azerbaijan International University (AIU), promising the students to admit them first to one of the Dagsetan universities and then to transfer them to the AIU. The accused persons deceived more than 100 people in 2005-2007 and misappropriated more than 100 thousand AZN.
