Relatives of group members accused of preparing terror attack on embassies in Azerbaijan refuse to give testimonies

APA reports that judge Islam Neymanov presided over the closed hearing. Father of Ramin and Tarlan Karimovs, Orkhan Alizadehâ€™s father-in-law Ramiz Karimov, Farid Jabbarovâ€™s father Pasha Jabbarov, Shahriyar Maharramovâ€™s wife Gismat Maharramova, mother of Yashar and Shahriyar Maharramovs Rafiga Maharramova refused to give testimonies. The court regarded their refusal to give testimony as legal.

Giving testimony Besti Babayeva, aunt of defendant Vugar Aliyev, said she was unaware of her nephewâ€™s actions. She noted that Vugar Aliyev had been twice arrested in connection with drugs. Following this, Besti Babayevaâ€™s testimony given in the interrogation was announced. According to the testimony, Vugar Aliyevâ€™s grandfather Sabir Guliyev was officer in Azerbaijan State Security Committee. His mother and aunt worked in the National Security Ministry.

Ilgar Aliyev, employee of LUKoil petrol station, which was attacked by the defendants in 2007, also gave testimony. He spoke about the details of the incident. Ilgar Aliyev said employee of the petrol station called Samir was wounded in the attack, the assaulters stole AZN 2 812.85. He also noted that there were three assaulters.

Kamran Asadov objected to the judgesâ€™ questions to the witness.
The defendant said he would have killed Ilgar Aliyev and the others, if he had wanted.
â€œI confess that I took AZN 625 during the attack, but I am unaware of the rest of the money,â€ he said.

The hearing will continue in the second half of the day.

Kamran Asadov, Bakhtiyar Orujov, Farid Jabbarov, Elshan Mammadov, Kamran Babayev, Samir Mehbaliyev, Terlan Karimov, Edgar Aliyev, Ramil Karimov, Shirvani Babayev, Samir Aliyev, Yashar Maharramov, Orkhan Alizadeh, Hajibala Huseynov, Azer Ibadov, Shahriyar Maharramov, Ramin Jalilov, Rovshan Abdulaliyev, Ilkin Ismayilov and Vugar Aliyev are accused of setting up a radical religious group, attempting to start military struggle, attacking on LUKoil petrol station in Baku, preparing terror attack on the U.S. and UK embassies in Azerbaijan.
