Former officer accused of radical religious activity threatens Military Prosecutor’s Office

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. Hearing on the case of former officer of Azerbaijani Army Kamran Asadov and 19 others continued in the Military Court of Grave Crimes. APA reports that judge Islam Neymanov presided over the process. Defendant Hajibala Huseynov gave testimony. Huseynov said that he had not told anything against statehood in his sermons in various regions of Azerbaijan.
“I did not promote armed jihad,†he said.
Huseynov said he did not know Kamran Asadov. He also said he was arrested by Interior Ministry’s officers on May 13 and the policemen put arm in his pocket at that time. He did not admit accusations on promoting terror.
“Struggling against enemies, doing jihad is shown in the Koran,†he said.
Interrupting Huseynov’s testimony defendant Kamran Asadov threatened Military Prosecutor’s Office.
“After I took the weapons and left the military unit my family was brought to the Military Prosecutor’s Office. They insulted my honor and dignity. It is good for you that I did not know about it,†he said.
Following this, Huseynov answered the questions of the judge and prosecutors.
The hearing will continue on January 7.
Kamran Asadov, Bakhtiyar Orujov, Farid Jabbarov, Elshan Mammadov, Kamran Babayev, Samir Mehbaliyev, Terlan Karimov, Edgar Aliyev, Ramil Karimov, Shirvani Babayev, Samir Aliyev, Yalchin Maharramov, Orkhan ALizadeh, Hajibala Huseynov, Azer Ibadov, Shahriyar Mehraliyev, Ramin Jalilov, Rovshan Abdulaliyev, Ilkin Ismayilov and Vugar Aliyev are accused of setting up a radical religious group, attempting to start military struggle, attacking on LUKoil petrol station in Baku, preparing terror attack on the U.S. and UK embassies in Azerbaijan.
