Interior Ministry refutes killing of Goranboy resident in police department
To him, the incident occurred in Dalimammadli village of Goranboy Region on August 31.
“Drunk Mahammad Rahimov saw a strange man in his house, while retuning from wedding party. There was a quarrel between Rahimov and Vagif. Vagif called police. Two policemen came to the house and took Vagif and Mahammad to the police station in the village. Yegana Kazimova went to the police department after two hours and found the body of her husband under the tree 20 meter far from the cabinet of an area inspector. Kazimova saw that her husband was more injured but she did not say anything to anybodyâ€, he said.
Kazimova was obliged to tell in detail after investigating the case by relatives of her husband and Azerbaijan Committee against Tortures. Committee Chairman confirmed killing of Rahimov by officials of Goranboy Police Department as a result of investigation. He stated that he had many documents and video materials proved the fact. Human Rights Defender appealed to Interior Ministry on the case.
Khatira Rahimova, sister of Rahimov told APA that she claimed for a murder of her brother by officials of police station. The police station rejected the fact and she appealed to the President on the case of her brother.
Officer of Goranboy Region Police Department Rahib Tagiyev told APA that the sayings of E. Behbudov and sister of deceased were not true. According to him, on August 31, M. Rahimov was invited to the polis station as he quarreled with his wife. As soon as Rahimov arrived at the police station, he felt bad and fell down. Tagiyev added that Rahimov was drunk at that time and died as a result of heart seizure. “The Region Procurator’s Office investigated the fact and passed decision that it was not the incident of criminal characterâ€.
Head of Press Service of Interior Ministry Sadig Gozalov told APA that no fact of torture had been found in M. Rahimov’s death.
