Defense Ministry investigates capture of Azerbaijani soldier

Bakuâ€“APA. Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan confirmed the fact of capture of the soldier of Azerbaijani Army Hasanov Rafig Rahman, 19 by Armenian militants. Spokesman for the Defense Ministry Eldar Sabiroglu told APA that conditions of his capture were being investigated. He said Hasanov was registered by the Agdam Region Military Commissariat in April, 2008. The State Commission for POWs, Hostages and Missing People spread information about the capture of Hasanov on October 8, 2008 in the contact line between the troops. Representation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) told the Commission that Red Cross official in Armenia visited the captured soldier in Armenia on October 16. They said his detention conditions met the norms of international humanitarian law. The State Commission is taking appropriate measures to release Rafig Hasanov from the captivity.
