Three arms smugglers arrested

Three suspects have already been detained. Officers at the Zazali stationary post of State Traffic Police found out Russian, Turkish and US-made 157 sporting guns, 26 boxes of bullets, 10 boxes of pistons and three boxes of sporting gun spare parts while inspecting KamAZ truck driven by Intigam Farman Valiyev on the Baku-Gazakh road.
Investigation made clear that the ammunitions were brought from Turkey to Azerbaijan via Georgia. The smugglers deceived the custom officers claiming that they carried automotive spare parts and succeeded to pass the ammunitions to the country. As a result of operational searches residents of Sumgayit Siyavush Eyvazov, Gudrat Jafarov and resident Agstafa Region Ilham Guliyev, who brought the ammunitions to Azerbaijan, were detained. They are charged on article 206.1 (smuggling) and 228.4 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation and carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies, explosives) of the Criminal Code and the fact is under the investigation.

Ganja City Prosecutorâ€™s Office told APA there were 300 armlets too in the truck. According to the preliminary version the ammunitions were smuggled for sale.
